Megan Mitton is your MLA for Memramcook-Tantramar in New Brunswick & Deputy Leader
Megan Mitton was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick on September 24, 2018 and was re-elected on September 14, 2020 to represent the people of Memramcook-Tantramar. She is a Deputy Leader of the New Brunswick Green Party and the Green Caucus Advocate on matters of Healthy and Inclusive Communities, Affordable Housing, and Climate Justice. She is the first Green MLA to be elected in her riding and the first woman elected as a Green MLA in New Brunswick history.
Ms. Mitton grew up in Sackville, NB, and graduated from Tantramar Regional High School. She earned her Bachelor of Arts at McGill University in Montreal, QC, where she studied international development, political science and women’s studies. After a decade of work and volunteering experience in the non-profit sector, Ms. Mitton was elected to serve as a Sackville Town Councillor in 2016.
During her time as MLA, Ms. Mitton has been a community champion for the residents of Strait Shores, Tantramar and Memramcook, fighting for access to healthcare services, coastal protection, and affordable housing and bringing their voices to the legislature. She has successfully advocated for increased public funding for flu shots and diabetes supplies so that those who need them have access.
In the Legislature, she has served on many committees, including the Public Accounts Committee and the Climate Change and Environmental Stewardship Committee.
Ms. Mitton and her husband, Steve Geier, currently reside in their hometown of Sackville with their two children.
