Fredericton – Green Party Leader David Coon says the news of the passing of New Brunswick’s Lieutenant Governor, the Honourable Jocelyne Roy-Vienneau, will be devastating for the thousands of New Brunswickers she touched.
“Her Honour had the remarkable ability to make a direct connection with every audience to whom she spoke, and the response was always one of great affection for her and a heartfelt appreciation for her message. I hope all New Brunswickers will reflect on a recurring theme of her speeches; that we celebrate who we are as indigenous peoples, Acadians, anglophones and newcomers, but we all must work to be one New Brunswick community.
My wife Janice Harvey and I developed a warm relationship with her honour and her husband Ronald over the dozens of events we attended together. We want to express our profound sympathies to his honour and their family.
I will remember her for her grace, and for her quiet, but fierce passion for our people and our province. We have lost a most remarkable New Brunswicker today.”
