It was a pleasure to host my second round of community gatherings in Lincoln, Lincoln Heights, Skyline Acres/Southwood Park, the East Plat/Downtown, and Bishop Drive/Lian-Valcour during the months of September and October. As always, thank you to the City and Town Councillors who joined me to hear from our mutual constituents.
Thank you to all who could make it. Due to the postal strike, we weren’t able to get flyers into all your mailboxes, but we did do mail drops as best we could. I hope you were able to get information about these events. Hearing from you is the best way I can represent your concerns and know what matters to you. Below are some of the things I heard and followed up on from the fall community gatherings.
Bishop Drive / Lian-Valcour – With Councilor Ruth Breen
Long ER waits and no doctor: I am pushing for a collaborative care clinic for the Southside of Fredericton. A group of doctors is working to create one and are in discussions with Horizon Health. I was told by the CEO for Horizon Health that they are actively working on this project. The Nurse Practitioner’s Clinic on Regent may expand to take more patients as well. The Fredericton area recruiter position has been filled after a year-long vacancy. In fact, two new family doctors arrived in Fredericton at the end of 2025. While 40% of Frederictonians don’t have a doctor, things seem to be finally moving in the right direction.
No room on school bus: I flagged this with the assistant transportation manager in the AW-SD, who said they would look into it.
