David Coon’s Youth Round Table is a youth-led consultation project. We want to challenge youth to dig deep into an issue or problem in our society and come up with solutions to present to government and decision-makers.
If you would like your voice to be heard and want to make a difference in your community, join David’s Youth Round Table (YRT). Our first meeting is on September 23, 2019. A final presentation will be to David Coon of your recommendations, which will then be presented to the Legislature.
One of David’s first activities as MLA for Fredericton-South was to convene a Youth Round Table to provide him with insight on the top issues affecting youth that he could champion as their MLA. Young people tend to be marginalized or remain voiceless in the political system. David wanted to change that.
The first major priority identified was youth mental health. This led to a mental health blog, featured in his newsletter and social media; a youth mental health forum, that brought together young people in the riding with many of the mental health resources in the community; and David’s championing of youth mental health in the Legislature.
Being a member of the YRT is an exciting and unique opportunity. Your voice is important and here you have the ability to have a real, meaningful impact on your community. To become a member, simply fill out the open application form or come to our first meeting on September 23, 7 pm at David Coon’s Constituency Office, 346 Queen Street.
This is your chance to be heard, to make changes in your community and in the government of New Brunswick. We hope to hear from you!
