For the first time in two years, I was able to resume my community gatherings in the four neighbourhoods of Fredericton South. It was great to see so many people come out to share their concerns, ask questions, and hear from their neighbours.
The four town hall-like gatherings were held from early November through January in each city ward within the Fredericton South riding. As in the past, I invited the local City councillors to participate as well. This enables people to raise both provincial and municipal concerns at the same community gathering.
Some of the common themes at these meetings were whether there was a need for a new provincial jail, access to public transit, access to healthcare, the doctor shortage, road and transportation infrastructure, and affordable housing.
All four city councillors, including three new councillors, Ruth Breen, Jason LeJeune and Cassandra LeBlanc, along with Deputy Mayor Greg Ericson, plan to join me again for my fall series of community gatherings. Hope to see you there.
